There are plenty of flowers that do well in shady spots in the garden.

They reward a little care with mostly fairytale flowers.

Munich – There are flowers that like to live in the shadows.

This is certainly good news for plant lovers with a garden where there is hardly any sun.

Whether on the north side of the house or in the partial shade under trees - with a little care, many of the flowers will bloom for months.

In their original habitat they grow in forests under trees and bushes: shade plants are used to a lack of light.

In order to draw attention to themselves, they often present bright, beautiful flowers in addition to interestingly drawn leaves.

The Bleeding Heart is an enchanting eye-catcher with its clusters of flowers ranging from white to pink.

It is very easy to care for and only needs humus-rich soil and some fertilizer every two to three years.

The elf flower seems to come from a fairy kingdom.

It only has small, delicate flowers in red, yellow and orange - but all the more.

The vigorous ground cover is easy to care for and appreciates a looser, humus-rich soil.

Poisonous, but splendid: The foxglove is undemanding, but it does not like windy locations, where its long inflorescences can break off.

It blooms in white, pink or purple colors.

Shade perennials often bloom in delicate colors and have a hardy nature

These flowers also develop their numerous blossoms in the shade and semi-shade:

  • Astilbe: The perennial, up to 1.50 meters high, flowers in shades of white, pink and violet.

  • Balkan Cranesbill: The pink flowering ground cover even displaces weeds with its joy of growth.

  • Bergenia: The hardy perennial flowers in shades of pink, white, or crimson.

They are best planted in spring.

  • Cyclamen: As a houseplant, it is not suitable for outdoors, so make sure you look for hardy varieties when buying.

  • Autumn anemone: It only flowers in white or pink from late summer, but its height of around 1.60 meters alone is impressive.

  • Fuchsias: They bloom profusely and for a long time, ranging from white to pink to violet.

  • Lenten rose: The perennial is particularly long-lived and flowers from white to black-red.

Don't forget to water!

Most of the shade bloomers are robust, hardy perennials, but they also require care.

Shade didn't mean you shouldn't water the plants regularly.

The most important thing is to make sure that the plants do not dry out.

The perennials are usually planted in spring or autumn, very often you are right with a permeable, nutrient-rich, humus-rich soil that has been enriched with some compost beforehand.

Shrubs that like shade are also recommended for those who prefer taller growth or privacy protection.

Flowers and shrubs are all well and good, but would you also like to grow fruit and vegetables in the shade?

Radishes, strawberries or wild garlic are suitable for this.
