Education Minister Yifat Shasha Bitton asked cabinet ministers to raise the issue of student vaccines during school hours for a vote, but was rejected outright.

Shasha Bitton's demand came up during the cabinet debate last week, so the ministers dealt with the issue.

Shasha Bitton vehemently opposes vaccination during school hours, even calling it a "crime," and also arguing that students should not face social pressures to get vaccinated, as it is a decision of the parents.

However, in case the ministers vote in favor of the students' vaccinations during school hours, the minister will have no choice but to approve the vaccines.

In the event of such a vote, the Minister of Education is likely to vote against, but there is a majority in the government that supports it, so the decision will likely pass.

But instead, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett continues to hold ongoing discussions that do not lead to agreements.

Shasha Bitton does not want to take on the vaccine outline due to her principled position on the issue, but has come up with a solution whereby all government ministers will bear the responsibility on their backs and she will not be alone.

Bennett, on the other hand, is begging to reach agreements with his education minister to present a good atmosphere in the government, but refuses to promote her proposal which could have prevented friction between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday, Bennett, Shasha Bitton and Horowitz agreed on an update to the outline for the start of the school year.

As part of the agreements, it was decided that students in grades 8-12 in red cities, in classes with less than 70% vaccinated or recovering, will study online at home. The immunization threshold will include vaccinated, recovering students with a positive serological test result. Grades 1-7.

Will

operate according to the "Education Shield" outline.

It was previously determined that all age groups will return to school on September 1, without capsules. The outline includes serological tests, which have already begun in the ultra-Orthodox sector, For teachers and students.
