2021-04-13T20:16:59.178Z

This Tuesday in Pantin (Seine-Saint-Denis), a 10-year-old girl was hit in the back by a bullet which was probably aimed at her father.

“I heard bangs and the sound of a speeding car engine.

When I left, I saw cartridge cases on the ground, ”breathes Amina, a resident of rue Rouget-de-Lisle, in Pantin (Seine-Saint-Denis).

In this residential area in the city center, neighbors crowd in front of the security lines that block the street in two.

The restlessness quickly subsided, but not the emotion.

This Tuesday, April 13, around 1 p.m., a man armed with a firearm fired in the direction of a vehicle containing a father and his 10-year-old daughter.

Several gusts were heard.

The girl, badly injured in the back, was taken to hospital by her father, who was presumably the target of the shooter.

The perpetrator of this shooting has fled and has not yet been identified.

"Fifteen years of vendetta"

On the other hand, the father of the victim, Yassine Cheambi, 45, is well known to the justice services: "He is part of organized crime and is waging war on several other families in the area," said a magistrate.

This settling of scores is undoubtedly the new episode of fifteen years of vendetta with the Benbouabdellah brothers whom he saw again last year in court for a story of assassination.

"

Because Yassine Cheambi or "Yass la banane" (named after the district in the twentieth arrondissement of Paris where he was rife with his band) appeared on appeal in February 2020 in Evry (Essonne), during a hearing where "the atmosphere was heavy and the looks equivocal, ”recalls a magistrate.

Yassine Cheambi was suspected of having killed Zoheir, the eldest of the Benbouabdellah brothers, with three discharges of buckshot during a game of poker in a bar in the north-east of the capital on June 11, 2013. Sentenced to 25 years in prison in the first year instance, and this time defended by the future Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti, he was acquitted on appeal.

"But he still had to serve his eight-year prison sentence for criminal conspiracy," recalls a source familiar with the matter.

Benefiting from semi-liberty, he was therefore in the car this Tuesday during the shooting, which occurred only one street from the place where his sister was shot in 2016. Arrested at a red light in his car, Essma, 34, had was killed by six shots, including two fatal in the head, fired at close range by a man on a scooter.

In this case, we find the DNA of Hanine Benbouabdellah, who has just been indicted for murder with premeditation.

One of his brothers is being prosecuted for criminal association.

Former childhood friends turned enemies

Part of the book "Maghreb connection, the secret saga of French organized crime", by Stéphane Sellami and Brendan Kemmet, which will be released on April 29 at Robert-Laffont, traces these decades of settling of scores in the north-east of Paris, between d old childhood friends become enemies by a game of alliance in banditry and narcotics.

We learn that Yass the banana escaped death on several occasions, especially in 2016, Place de la République, in Paris.

“During telephone tapping, two enemies of Yassine Cheambi tell each other this ambush: armed with a shotgun, they fire two shots.

The first, he blows up everything in the car, the windows… The second blows up the thing where you put your head, close to two centimeters… "

But this is not the only criminal project targeting Yass the banana: he was also targeted at the Bois-d'Arcy remand center (Yvelines).

"The Criminal Squad ensures that these are return matches, return matches, return matches of other murders," loose Me Celeyron, his former lawyer, in the forthcoming book.

From 1998, and then only 22 years old, Yassine Cheambi was suspected of having committed his first reprisals.

Struck for a story of crumpled sheet metal, he returned two days later to the same place, in the XXth arrondissement and, with about thirty young people, he surrounded his opponent, knocked him down and stabbed him in the room. chest while his accomplices repeatedly shoot the victim in the legs.

"The pack flees by chanting:

The banana, The banana

", we detail in the future book on organized crime.

Yass the banana will be sentenced in 2004 to six years in prison for these facts.

But he was also heard at the same time by the criminal brigade in the investigation into the assassination of Nordine Nasri, against a background of drug trafficking.

The leads for the investigators in charge of this new shooting in Pantin are therefore as numerous as the past of the father of the seriously injured girl is cloudy ...
