Six people were injured in an explosion at a plant operated by Westlake Chemicals in southwestern Louisiana.
"The explosion occurred in a tank storing ethylene dichloride, and firefighting crews were able to quickly put out the fire caused by the explosion because the tank was empty, injuring six people," company spokesman Joe Andrepont said today.
The spokesman indicated that investigations are underway to uncover the causes and circumstances of the explosion.
