Since the series "Community" ended in 2015, fans have been waiting for the movie that follows it.

Not because the ending was unsatisfactory, but because already in the second season the catch phrase "six seasons and a movie" was born.

It was even said by Abed's character about another, forgotten series, which definitely did not get six seasons or a movie ("The Cape"), but this phrase became common among fans in the context of "Community" itself - a series that was always on the verge of cancellation and yet Renewed again and again, surviving many vicissitudes, until it did indeed complete six seasons.

"Community" originally aired on NBC starting in 2009, until it was canceled and then moved on to a sixth season - which in retrospect was its last - on Yahoo's convenient streaming service.

The series followed a group of unrelated community college students who formed a study group only because one of them wanted to start with another.

From this simple premise grew a series that liked to dismantle the foundations of television comedy, and was full of references, jokes and cinematic parodies, known for the wonderful paintball episodes.

The series was created by Dan Harmon, who would later create the ultra-popular "Rick and Morty" with Justin Roiland, and the cast included Joel McHale, Chevy Chase, Alison Berry, Donald Glover, Danny Fudi, Yvette Nicole Brown , Jim Rush and Ken Jeong.

The Russo brothers, who would later become the most important creative force in the Marvel universes, including the "Avengers" films that became the most successful ever, were one of the regular directors of the series, already demonstrating their affinity and ability for action.

Since it appeared on Netflix in March 2020, with the beginning of the first corona lockdown, the subversive comedy won more viewers and a renewed buzz that once again raised the idea for a sequel.

Harmon even said that he had a script in the pipeline, and the original cast reunited almost entirely (minus Chevy Chase, whose relationship with him was never good) for a virtual meeting during the Corona closures.

Now the long awaited film is finally happening.

The Peacock streaming service, which belongs to NBC Universal which produced the series, ordered a full-length feature.

The bad news is that the entire cast doesn't appear to be in, at this point at least: Glover, Brown and Chase are not named in the press release.

However, there may be room for optimism about the first two, at least for guest appearances: McHale announced the news on Twitter and tagged his colleagues, including Glover and Brown.

The film is expected to be released during 2023, and at this stage it is not clear if it will be sold to territories where the streaming service is not available, such as Israel, or if we will have to wait until it arrives in Israel at some point.
