After the data from Canalys, according to which the smartphone market suffered a decline between 9% and 11% globally in the first three months of 2022, the situation for the researchers of Strategy Analytics is even more worrying.
The latest report on the mobile sector tells of a 16% decline in shipments, declining to -4% in Italy.
The most notable decline is in Russia (-30%) where the crisis of the conflict in Ukraine has blocked many shipments and, proportionally, the purchase aims of consumers.
The analyst numbers refer to the volume of devices shipped by manufacturers to distributors, chains and online stores, and not to user spending, which could be even less than the actual availability on the shelves.
For Strategy Analytics, Samsung is still dominating the scene, the first brand in seven of the fifteen countries considered by the research, including Italy.
The others are Spain, South Korea, South Africa, Mexico, India and Brazil.
"The 15 countries tracked in our report represented a total of 60 percent of global phone shipments in the first quarter of 2022," the agency said.
"The top 5 phone vendors in our report, Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo and vivo accounted for nearly 6 out of 10 phones shipped in the first quarter of 2022."
The general decline, as analysts say, is due to geopolitical tensions, supply problems associated with shortages of components, assembly disruptions in many countries, shipping difficulties and rising inflation.
Of the markets analyzed, only the Canadian and South African markets report an increase in shipments.
