(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 18 - About 760,000 South Koreans who received a first dose of the Astrazeneca vaccine will take the second dose with Pfizer due to delivery delays under the Covax program. This was announced by the Seoul government as reported by the Guardian.
By the end of June, about 835,000 doses of Astrazeneca are due to arrive in South Korea for the more than 700,000 healthcare workers and frontline workers who received the first dose in April. But deliveries have been postponed to July and beyond.
Several countries, including Italy, Canada and Spain, have already given the green light to heterologous vaccination against coronavirus. South Korea announced last month that it would conduct clinical trials by mixing doses of AstraZeneca with those of Pfizer and other vaccines. So far the experiment has involved 100 health professionals. (HANDLE).
