Two children allegedly kidnapped by their mother are back in their father's care.

The vaccination opponent and the wife now living separately from her husband had already left her 12 and 14-year-old sons in mid-December, apparently to prevent them from being vaccinated against the corona virus.

As reported by the AFP news agency, among others, the 46-year-old was arrested.

The police had been looking for her and the kidnapped children for weeks.

As the newspaper "El Pais" reports, the woman surrendered to the authorities in the city of Seville.

According to the report, her lawyer had advised her to take this step.

According to the newspaper El Mundo, the mother will spend the night in police custody before she will be brought before a judge tomorrow.

According to the newspaper, the mother's lawyer assured that the woman was only interested in protecting the children from possible side effects of a corona vaccination.

According to the current status, experts rate the vaccination for children as well tolerated; possible vaccination reactions such as tiredness and headaches are mostly mild to moderate.

Since the end of November, the Pfizer / Biontech vaccine has also been approved for children aged five and over.

Children haven't been to school for weeks

The father had turned on the authorities after he had not had any contact with his children since the beginning of November.

Accordingly, they had not gone to school for weeks.

According to "El Mundo", the kidnapping of minors by their parents in Spain is subject to imprisonment between two and four years.

Custody can also be withdrawn.

Spain has one of the highest vaccination rates in Europe.

The willingness to vaccinate has been very high since the start of the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus.

There were hardly any protests critical of the vaccination.
