[Madrid 30th Reuters]-Spain's statistical office announced that its final GDP (final GDP) for the second quarter was 0.4% higher than the previous quarter. It was revised slightly from the preliminary value (0.5% increase).
It slowed slightly from the 0.5% increase in the first quarter.
Second-quarter GDP increased 2.0% year-on-year. The growth rate was lower than the market forecast (2.3% increase) and 2.2% increase in the first quarter.
The Central Bank of Spain entered the month with a projected growth rate of 2% for 2019, downgrading from the forecast shown in June (2.4%).
However, after the Spanish economy escaped from the prolonged recession in 2013, it has consistently achieved growth above the European average. The growth forecast for 2019 is almost double that of the euro zone (1.1%).
