Erding - Thomas Vogl, trainer of the Erding Gladiators, was satisfied with the performance of his team over the weekend.
And that despite the fact that after the 8: 5 on Friday against Waldkraiburg on Sunday there was a 2: 4 defeat at table leaders EHC Klostersee.
Waldkraiburg coach Alex Piskunov struggled especially with the second third on Friday, which his team lost 4-1.
"We really did everything wrong," he grumbled.
"We played sloppily there and therefore didn't deserve the win."
“If you want to see a spectacle, you have to come to the Erdinger ice rink,” said his counterpart Vogl with a grin. “Of course I'm satisfied, despite the five goals I conceded, but I don't give a shit if we win.” He raved about his “huge offensive” and that all three rows could score goals. "When we win, I'm always happy," he confessed, but added: "But of course we have to talk about the mistakes." Because there have been a few. With regard to the top game on Sunday in Grafing, the gladiators coach said confidently: "We are ready for Klostersee - drive off right away."
Two days later, even after the defeat in Grafing, Vogl did not seem necessarily unhappy, because his team's performance was again worth seeing. "That was really the top game predicted," he said. He didn't want to blame his team, "because Klostersee was definitely better". What made him particularly happy: "We made significantly fewer mistakes than in the last few games."
After all, the Gladiators had an average of 4.6 goals against. The Grafinger had scored two power play goals: “They played really well.” When his team made it 2-2, “we had the opportunity to take at least one point”, but then we almost got 3 : 2 for Klostersee. A shot into the empty goal was followed by the 4: 2. The Grafinger lead the table with a maximum of 24 points from eight games. "The placement is no coincidence," said Vogl appreciatively. "The performance is absolutely fair to the placement."
His counterpart Dominik Quinlan spoke of a "top game at top level". Erding had “brutally fast strikers”, so it was all the more important “that we defended compactly and only allowed a few shots”. The key was the two overpaid goals and the quick 3: 2 after the 2: 2. "In the end, Erding will be among the top three or four in the table," predicted Quinlan and added: "I'm looking forward to the re-match."
As for the Finnish newcomer to the Gladiators, coach Vogl announced when asked that Roni Rukajärvi would start training on Tuesday.
Since the Gladiators are free of play next Friday, the Finn will only make his debut on Sunday in Peißenberg.
