After the attack on the Jewish community in Halle came before the international match of the German national football team against Argentina to a scandal. The minute before the match was apparently disturbed by a man loudly roaring the national anthem, as was clearly heard on television.
Only when another spectator called "shut up" in the direction of the man, he fell silent. There was applause in the stadium, international Serge Gnabry smiled. On Twitter, the hymn singer made during the minute of silence for indignation. "Football, you can be so ugly," a user tweeted.
The occasion of the silence was the attack on the Jewish community in Halle. There at noon a man had allegedly shot a passerby near the Jewish cemetery and a guest in a kebab snack bar. The alleged perpetrator had also tried to penetrate the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur in a synagogue.
Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said that there is sufficient evidence for a possible right-wing extremist background in the opinion of the Attorney General. "According to the current state of knowledge, we must assume that it is at least an anti-Semitic attack," said Seehofer.
