Slightly less than half of Germans are in favor of uniform nationwide rules in the fight against Corona, while 39 percent support regionally applicable measures.
Another 14 percent do not want to commit themselves fundamentally and answered the question with “Partly, partly”.
This was the result of a survey by the opinion research institute Civey for SPIEGEL, which was carried out before the current decisions of the Bund-Länder-Round for more nationwide rules.
Uniform national rules are more popular in eastern Germany (47 percent) than regional measures (35 percent).
In the west of the country, both variants find a similar amount of popular support.
When looking at the sexes, no clear differences can be seen.
While 41 percent of men prefer regional corona measures, 37 percent of women do.
In the breakdown according to party preferences, however, larger differences become clear.
The majority of FDP supporters (60 percent) support regional corona measures.
Even among AfD voters, they find significantly more support (53 percent) than nationwide uniform rules.
Among supporters of the SPD, the Greens and Union parties, regional measures are preferred by less than a third of the respondents.
The approval for nationwide rules is particularly high among Union (55 percent) and SPD voters (54 percent).
A clear majority, however, is still in favor of the general compulsory vaccination: More than 70 percent of Germans are in favor.
Prime ministers, current chancellor Angela Merkel and her designated successor Olaf Scholz explicitly support the project: “The federal and state governments welcome the fact that the German Bundestag wants to decide on a general vaccination requirement as soon as possible.
It can take effect as soon as it can be ensured that everyone to be vaccinated can also be vaccinated promptly, i.e. from around February 2022, ”said the resolution of the video switching conference on Thursday.
In the west of Germany, the consent to the compulsory vaccination (75 percent) is slightly higher than in the east (64 percent).
Support also increases with age.
The measure is also most popular with potential voters from the Greens, the SPD and the Union.
In all three groups, more than 80 percent would support the introduction of mandatory vaccination.
In the supporters of the left it was 65 percent.
The measure is less popular with the FDP clientele.
According to the survey, 58 percent are in favor of compulsory vaccination.
Only among AfD supporters is a compulsory vaccination predominantly rejected.
