Tennis, but not in doubles, cycling, but not in peloton ... The practice of individual sport will also be "unconfined" but still fo

"Play sports is good for health" ... but 10 meters from each other. One of the good news of the possible deconfinement next May 11, is that the practice of sport will be freed from some of the current constraints, said the Ministry of Sports this Thursday in a statement: "It will be possible to practice a individual outdoor sporting activity respecting the rules of physical distance, in authorized open spaces, and according to the health situation of each territory (red or green zone) ”.

For individual sports, a first specification is provided by the ministry. A "guide" of practices which follows the recommendations of the High Council of Public Health. Not surprisingly, "a specific physical distance between practitioners is an essential condition for the practice of physical activity". What does it mean ? Whether the small football match on a "city stadium" or the one-on-one on his local basketball playground are therefore not possible anytime soon.

10 meters between two cyclists or two joggers

Here is precisely under what conditions we can play sports from May 11:

  • Outdoors
  • Without limitation of duration of practice
  • Without certificate
  • Within a home distance limit of less than 100 km
  • By limiting gatherings to a maximum of 10 people
  • And without benefiting from the changing rooms which can be made available for outdoor activities.

The ministry specifies the distance to be respected for certain "disciplines":

  • A distance of 10 meters minimum between two people for cycling and jogging activities.
  • Sufficient physical distance for outdoor activities such as tennis, yoga, fitness for example. For the practice of yoga, or individual physical activity without travel, a minimum of 4 m2 per person is required.

Additional specifications depending on the activities will soon be provided by the Ministry of Sports, where it is claimed that the only compass is "the health of practitioners and athletes".

Sports-co is always no

Anything that does not allow this distancing remains prohibited. This is the case with team sports, and combat sports. Collective is understood here in the broad sense: double tennis, which does not allow respecting distances, is prohibited.

The Ministry of Sports will offer an exhaustive list of disciplines and sports affected by this ban in another practical guide which is currently being drawn up. A new progress report will be made by June 2 to assess the conditions for resuming indoor sports and disciplines that require contact. "Depending on how the health situation evolves, we will consider an evolution of the doctrine," we add to the ministry.

As a reminder, these rules apply to amateur sport but also professional, for which is added the constraint of the public, as declared by the Prime Minister on Tuesday and recalled Roxana Maracineanu this Thursday. "No sporting competition can take place before the month of August, including behind closed doors, and sporting events gathering more than 5000 people on the same place cannot be held before September".

Citizen accountability

The challenge for the public authorities is, however, not to distance the French from sport. "We know that in this period of confinement, people have started jogging, we are delighted that the French have started it, it helps to be well in his pumps, we encourage him but in a supervised and not liberticide way “, Specifies the cabinet of Roxana Maracineanu.

“These rules for leaving containment will not be done without everyone taking responsibility, because the constraint can also be tightened. We open up possibilities but with certain rules. The risks of contamination have not disappeared, "the firm further clarifies, where we assure that we are betting on the common sense of citizens. But “if there are cyclists who ride in a peloton on May 12, they may be fined. And that goes for everyone. "
