Starting maintenance of the Quneitra-Damascus highway

Technical workshops at the Military Housing Corporation, Branch 7, started asphalting and maintaining the old Quneitra-Damascus highway from Maas roundabout in the eastern Kom area to the village of Al-Shawkatleya in Damascus countryside.

Director of the General Organization for Road Transport in Quneitra, Engineer Hussein Haimoud, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the length of the road is 3.7 km and its width varies between 6 meters in the return lane within the administrative borders of Quneitra governorate and about 15 meters in width in the village of Al-Shawkatiyah at the western entrance to the governorate of Damascus countryside, at a cost of about 205 million Syrian pounds, and the implementation period is 180 days.

Haimoud pointed out that the General Corporation for Road Transport in the governorate is working according to the available capabilities to maintain the main roads in the governorate and improve the reality of the roads linking Quneitra governorate with the governorates of Damascus, its countryside and Daraa.

In turn, Eng. Aqel Taya of the Military Housing Corporation Branch 7 stated that the works included scraping the old worn-out asphalt layer and laying a new asphalt layer, in addition to laying a layer of stoke sand at the entrance to the Damascus countryside governorate, and constructing a concrete ferry on the path of the village of Al-Shokatleya.
