Stiftung Warentest has investigated where you can buy the best still mineral water.
Water is a basic food that everyone needs in everyday life.
But not all water is the same - in terms of
quality, taste, impurities
and of course the
price,
there are sometimes considerable differences.
Expensive does not automatically mean good.
In a comparison, Stiftung Warentest has
32 still and 16 medium mineral waters
tested.
The test of the medium water dates from 2020 *, the non-carbonated mineral water is new in the test.
These include inexpensive own brands from Kaufland, Lidl and Aldi, as well as well-known brands such as Gerolsteiner, Adelholzener and international brands such as Vittel and Evian.
It was tested for impurities (such as arsenic, lead, nitrate and uranium, germs and pathogens), taste and minerals.

Stiftung Warentest: Cheap water comes off well, expensive brands in the last place
The good news: There were no microbiological complaints with any of the tested products, the majority also received a positive verdict on the senses.
Eighteen of the 32 water tested received the
grade “good”
, eight even the
grade “very good”
.
One of the winners is the inexpensive
Kaufland K-Classic
water
: Here you pay 13 cents per liter.
The brands Fürst Bismarck and Lichtenauer Mineralquellen are also at the forefront.
The last places in the test, on the other hand, are occupied by premium brands and organic waters.
The testers criticized, among other things, the sobering mineral balance, a larger CO2 footprint and the taste.
