The fact that Corona can also have an impact on the psyche was shown in the case of a craftsman (54) from a village in the north of the Weilheim-Schongau district.

Since he no longer had any assignments and was afraid of the future, he committed a theft.

He was given a one-year suspended sentence.

District

- A DNA trace at the crime scene, a lonely forest hut, convicted the man. His DNA was in the database because he had stolen something a few years ago. He had come through his suspended sentence well, now he had relapsed. In March of last year, when the pandemic rolled out with its legally mandated measures, the 54-year-old said he panicked. "I didn't know if I could continue to feed my family," he said in court. On a night drive he passed the lonely forest hut and levered the door open. He stole tools with an estimated value of 1200 euros and sold them.

When the police came to see him after the DNA comparison, the craftsman immediately remorsefully admitted the act. In the courtroom he also regretted it very much. "I don't know what got into me there," he said. He has to work on himself, swallow his pride and sometimes ask others for help, the defendant said. Soon after his transfer, he voluntarily went into psychiatric treatment, which he continues. He also wanted compensation for the damage before he was convicted. His defense attorney gave the injured party 1,400 euros.

All of this spoke in favor of the accused.

But due to his relevant previous conviction, there was still a prison sentence in the room.

"He is aware that something is at stake," said his defense attorney.

But his client has also started to work on himself.

“I'm so sorry.

I want to get my psyche under control, ”said the defendant on his last word before the verdict.

The presiding judge Karin Beuting gave the man with the suspended sentence one more chance.

She provided him with a probation officer and ordered that psychiatric therapy be continued.

In addition, it imposed a monetary requirement of 2000 euros, payable to the state treasury.

The judgment is final.
