More than 10 million euros will be released immediately by the state to restore the rail line between Breil-sur-Roya and Tende (Alpes-Maritimes) damaged by storm Alex in October, the ministry said on Monday. of the Ecological Transition, responsible for transport.

The cost of priority work to put the rail line back into service between Breil-sur-Roya and Tende was estimated at 20 million euros, the press release said.
These works will be financed for 10.5 million euros by the State, provided as part of the recovery plan, for 7.5 million euros by the South region and for 2 million euros by the department of the Alps. -Maritimes.
This operation will restore circulation from Breil-sur-Roya to Saint-Dalmas-de-Tende station before the end of January 2021, adds the ministry.

At the beginning of October, bad weather left nine dead and nine missing in the hinterland of Nice and Menton.
The floods had also caused significant damage in the north of the Alpes-Maritimes department, especially in the Roya valley, where the road network was partly destroyed.
The opening up of the municipalities of the valley depends to date mainly on the rail network via the Nice-Breil and Coni-Vintimille lines, recalls the ministry.
