It is no secret that reading a story to children is one of the effective ways to enrich the language and encourage the child's various linguistic skills. In 2014, the American Association of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization even published a recommendation for parents - to read books to their children from infancy.
Studies have found that reading stories to toddlers improves their chances of success during the school years and that reading the stories also contributes to the children's emotional state, as well as to a normal relationship between them and their parents. Exposure to books has a positive effect on the development of different areas of the brain, which are associated with language acquisition, writing, imagination and attention.
Why is it important to read to toddlers a story right from birth? Are they able to extract information from the reading even when they still do not understand the words? Maya Dayan-Shalev spoke with infant development specialist Shlomit Schuster: How to read a story, what are the recommended books, what to do when you encounter a lack of interest from the children and is it worthwhile to include books in English (or another language)?
The Jama app
was established with the aim of addressing mothers of babies from birth to age three, and centralizing for them content, activities, tips from experts and videos that will accompany them throughout this challenging period.
All the content in the app "grows" together with the baby and is precisely adapted to its developmental stages, so that the mothers receive only what is relevant to them and interests them at any given moment.
The Jama app is the place for mothers in Israel to meet and get to know other mothers around them, and create new and exciting friendships in the fascinating journey.
