Striker Skenderovic wants to know again: "1860 Munich is almost my last chance"

Meris Skenderovic hasn't given up yet.

After a promising start, his career stalled.

At TSV 1860, the striker wants to attack again.

Windischgarsten – For someone who was the junior top scorer, trained under Julian Nagelsmann for a long time in Hoffenheim and even played in the Europa League, that is a remarkable statement.

"1860 is almost my last chance," said Meris Skenderovic, comparing his achievements to his age (24) and past professional stints.

A statement of relentless harshness against himself - but the striker who came from Schweinfurt has good reasons to judge his career prospects in this way.

As far as his original plan is concerned, to play in the Bundesliga as often as possible, the contract with 1860, which had been in the offing since winter, was a stroke of luck that now needs to be refined.

"Of course it's my goal to play as high as possible," says Skenderovic: "But I can assess that realistically." There are only a few cases of players who could have done it in their mid-20s.

Looking back on his positions after Hoffenheim and Hartberg (second half of 2019), the former U-national player (DFB/Montenegro) says: "I was on loan in Jena for a year - three years later this is my second chance in the 3rd division.

If I get working times, I just have to deliver.

If not, it will be difficult for me.

Then it's probably back to the 4th league.

And even if I then scored 25 goals a season at the age of 25 or 26, it would be difficult to get back up.”

But does he dare to declare war on third division top scorer Marcel Bär?

"The most important thing is that we go up," says "Mero" and adds Solomonic: "If Cello scores 25 goals and I score five, it's okay too." Apart from that: With his qualities - speed, goal instinct - would also come for him a place on the flank in question - right or left, it doesn't matter to him.
