(ANSA) - MILAN, MAY 19 - The part of the investigation that started in Monza in September 2021 regarding the 'farce' exam of the Uruguayan footballer Luis Suarez, who took a level B1 Italian language exam at the University for Foreigners of Perugia to obtain Italian citizenship and be registered as a community player by Juventus.
For nine defendants in various ways of corruption and false ideology, the Prosecutor's Office of Monza had asked for up to 6 years of conviction in the shortened trial and the GUP issued seven convictions and two acquittals.
The disputed facts date back to the period July-November 2018, when three exam tests were organized at the unacoop headquarters in Seregno (Monza-Brianza).
The highest sentence, 4 years and 8 months, to a thirty-year-old legal representative of the social cooperative of Seregno - affiliated with a study center in Roccadaspide (Salerno), once an agreement with the University for foreigners of Perugia - qualified to carry out Italian language exams A2 level and to issue the certification.
Sentences ranging from 2 years and 8 months to 6 months, went to two examiners - a 42-year-old from Salerno and a contemporary living in Milan - and to foreigners accused of being intermediaries in finding other foreigners interested in false certification.
