The WWK Volleys Herrsching cannot be beaten by the 0-2 deficit against the Grizzlys Giesen.

They find their smile again - and move into the cup semi-finals.

Herrsching - The WWK Volleys Herrsching are in the semifinals of the DVV Cup.

The volleyball Bundesliga team from Ammersee won on Wednesday evening in the local Nikolaushalle against the Helios Grizzlys Giesen after a tough fight and 0: 2 set deficit with 3: 2 (18:25, 20:25, 25:22, 25:17 , 15:10).

In the semifinals, the Herrschinger will meet SVG Lüneburg on December 22nd.

In the other duel, the two top German teams VfB Friedrichshafen and Berlin Recycling Volleys face each other.

The cup final will take place in Mannheim on March 6, 2022.

Weak start in front of a mini backdrop: WWK Volleys are 0: 2 behind in sets

For a long time on Wednesday it looked like a bitter cup evening for the WWK Volleys.

But the home side just got the curve in front of the mini-crowd of 100 spectators (250 would have been allowed).

In the first two sentences, the grizzlies were clearly more grippy and were clearly master of the strange house.

Especially at the service line, the guests presented themselves very strongly - Herrsching did not.

The Grizzlys achieved a total of eleven service winners in the first two sets, which they were able to win relatively clearly with 25:18 and 25:20.

WWK Volleys Herrsching: Libero Ferdinand Tille brings back self-confidence

Immediately after the second movement, Herrsching's libero Ferdinand Tille drummed up his colleagues on the field and gave a short, but definitely emotional speech.

"We were just too tense," said coach Max Hauser after the game.

There was also a lack of self-confidence.

Very few of the 100 spectators still believed in a turning point, the color of the face of managing director Fritz Frömming was Uli-Hoeneß-like.

WWK Volleys Herrsching turn DVV Cup quarter-finals against Grizzlys Giesen

But the WWK volleys turned the game around.

Also because coach Hauser (already at the end of the second set) made a change in the middle block: Iven Ferch replaced the hapless Dorde Ilic.

And Ferch, who had only played sporadically during the season so far, did a good job.

He was able to convert all of his five attacks into points and also grabbed three times in the block.

The other players in the Lederhosen jerseys also added a shovel.

Above all in acceptance, the Herrschinger stabilized, but also in the bloc and in the attack.

The grizzlies, for their part, could not maintain their strong level in the first two rounds.

With 25:22 and 25:17 the WWK volleys equalized.

Herrsching trainer Max Hauser: "That's just how volleyball is"

"We finally started laughing at 16:16 in the third set, and after the third set we gained confidence again," explained Hauser.

"That's just volleyball."

Even in the tie-break, the Herrschinger remained on the trigger and did not allow the butter to be removed from the bread.

In the meantime it was 10: 4.

A Giesen mistake finally sealed Herrsching's success after 111 minutes.
