Show jumper Simone Blum from Zolling will not start at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Her parade mare Alice had to have an operation on Monday.

In 2020, Corona thwarted Simone Blum's Olympic plans, and the Tokyo Games were postponed.
This year they are to take place from July 23rd to August 8th - the show jumper from Zolling will, however, miss them: Her mare DSP Alice had to undergo an operation on Monday.
Simone Blum: "Alice survived the procedure and the anesthesia well."
"A stubborn bruise on the leg that did not break down by itself and thus squeezed, had to be surgically removed," said Blum on Facebook.
But the horse is doing well: “We are infinitely happy that Alice has survived the procedure and the anesthesia well, and absolutely relieved to see her standing on four legs again.” She now needs three to four weeks of rest, “before Hopefully we will finally start building continuously ”.
Either way: "The big dream of the Olympics unfortunately fell through for us, and so we will have to do without a start in Tokyo in 2021."
Preparations for the Olympic Games went anything but according to plan
Preparing for the Olympics was already very complicated for the 32-year-old from Zollinger: At the beginning of February, Blum started a tour to Spain with her stable - a number of competitions would have been on the agenda for the 2018 world champion couple.
But then the herpes virus, which is dangerous for horses, broke out and all plans for Spain were thrown overboard.
So now the Olympic exit.
Blum: "We will give Alice as much time as she needs to make the hearts of equestrian fans beat faster again in the future."
