From December last year to January this year, the "Caring for the Caregiver Platform" interviewed 405 caregivers mainly in the form of online questionnaires. Their main care targets were the elderly, the disabled, special learning needs and children from 0 to 6 years old. Nearly 90% of the interviewees were women, 7 of them did not work, and more than half of the households had monthly incomes below 15,000 yuan. The platform stated that the government is currently providing living allowances for people with disabilities and carers through the care fund only in the form of experiments, but there are multiple thresholds, and 80% of the respondents did not receive them.

The survey found that 68.6% of people need to take care of them, and the average monthly transportation expenditure is at least 400 yuan or more, and 42.9% of them have a monthly expenditure of 600 yuan or more. When asked how the government would support them, 55% and 41% of the respondents respectively chose the "caregiver octopus" and fixed transportation allowance.

Platform spokesman Yang Peigen said that many caregivers are under heavy pressure and suggested that the government set up a dual-track caregiver transportation support measure as soon as possible to provide "carer personal octopus" or related transportation allowances to relieve caregiver pressure. Yang believes that the implementation of the Octopus can refer to the current "Student Identity Individual Octopus Promotional Concessions" and "Public Transportation Fare Concession Scheme for Eligible Persons with Disabilities". The Labour and Welfare Bureau and the Transport Department, together with MTR Corporation, provide Offers.

As for those with moderate or severe physical impairments, physical disabilities, and other mobility difficulties, it is difficult to use public transportation on weekdays, so it is recommended to subsidize families with a fixed transportation allowance of at least 600 yuan per month.
