Berlin - The Union was historically bad in the federal election.

In a recent survey, it is now even worse off.

The CDU and CSU slide below the 20 percent mark.

If the Bundestag election were to take place next Sunday, the parties would only get 19 percent, as the research group Elections for the ZDF “Politbarometer” (October 15) determined.

A few days ago, an Insa poll by

Bild saw

the Union at 20 percent.

Poll after the federal election: SPD strongest force, Union sags

According to the ZDF “Politbarometer”, the SPD was unchanged at 28 percent.

The Greens would have 17, the FDP 13, the AfD 11 and the Left 5 percent.

63 percent of those surveyed expect the Union to remain in its lows for longer.

The crisis is being processed - there is a lot of discussion, especially in the CDU.

Three out of four respondents would think it would be good if the top SPD candidate Olaf Scholz became chancellor - even 55 percent of the Union supporters surveyed see it that way.

The final exploratory phase is currently underway.

88 percent of those questioned expect that there will be a "traffic light government" made up of the SPD, the Greens and the FDP.

62 percent think it is good, 19 percent think it is bad.

A “Jamaica coalition” of the Union, Greens and FDP, on the other hand, would find 64 percent bad.

In the federal election, the Union had done very poorly with 24.1 percent in the preliminary result compared to previous years.

The SPD was the strongest force with 25.7 percent.

Chancellor Merkel continues to score high - CSU boss Söder loses a few points

Angela Merkel will not have her office in the Chancellery for a long time. According to the “Politbarometer”, she remains at the top of the top ten politicians. Their average value when assessing sympathy and performance is 2.3 on a scale from +5 to -5. Behind them are the SPD politicians Olaf Scholz (2.0) and Manuela Schwesig (1.8). The prime minister from the north caused a stir with her desire to change government partners.

In fourth and fifth place are two traffic light explorers, namely Robert Habeck (Greens; 1.7) and Christian Lindner (FDP; 0.9).

Markus Söder from the CSU receives an average of 0.5 points and loses a few points compared to two weeks ago (then 1.1).

Annalena Baerbock is holding at 0.4.

There are two potential candidates for the CDU chairmanship in the minus range: Jens Spahn (-0.1) and Friedrich Merz (-0.4).

Still boss Armin Laschet occupies the last top ten place with minus 1.3.

Notes on the survey

The ZDF “Politbaromter” is carried out by the Mannheim research group Elections.

In the period from October 12 to 14, 1329 randomly selected voters were contacted by telephone (landline and mobile phone numbers).

The survey is representative of the eligible population in Germany.

Election polls are generally fraught with uncertainty.

They only reflect the opinion at the time of the survey and are not predictions of the outcome of the election.
