This Thursday, Congressman for Peru Libre, Guido Bellido Ugarte, was sworn in as president of the Council of Ministers.

Bellido, 41, has a degree in Electronic Engineering and is part of the ruling party for the Cusco region.

What has resonated the most about this appointment, of the now prime minister, is an investigation that weighs against him.

According to a document from the Public Ministry, the Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation against Bellido Ugarte for the alleged crime of apology to terrorism.

This after the statements made by the congressman during an interview with Inka Vision in which he refused to classify the Shining Path terrorist group as a terrorist organization.

Bellido said that this organization was made up of a group of Peruvians who had "taken a wrong path."

CNN contacted the Prosecutor's Office to find out the status of the investigation and we are still waiting for a response.

CNN also attempted to contact Bellido for his position on this investigation.

Other statements by Guido Bellido that have been controversial are those related to the government of Cuba.

In an interview this month with Canal N he said that "the people are the ones who determine the model of government, that is what they have determined in Cuba and that is why they are 60 years old. If the majority of the population approves and participates, it is a democracy ".

Reactions to Bellido's appointment have come from various sectors of Peruvian politics, including from his own party.

The congressman from Peru Libre, Jorge Coayla, considered the decision to appoint Bellido as “not convenient.” For his part, the Purple Party indicated that his appointment “undermines governance”.

Castillo swears in ministers, but does not assign in Economy and Justice portfolios

But Castillo, so far, has not sworn anyone in the ministries of Economy and Justice.
