A relief package is intended to absorb the increased cost of living for consumers in Germany.
Employees in particular benefit from this.
It feels like everything has gotten more expensive since the beginning of the year, and a
relief package
for consumers is now intended to compensate for this.
The relief package includes, among other things, the fuel discount, the
9-euro ticket
for bus and train and the
heating cost subsidy
.
Employees also benefit from the new
income tax
.
From July 2022,
more of the salary
should remain.
Tax cuts: That changes with the income tax
Distance allowance
(increases by 3 cents to 38 cents from the 21st kilometer)
Employee lump sum
(increases by 200 euros to a total of 1,200 euros)
Basic
allowance (increases by around 360 euros to a total of 10,347 euros)
Income tax – distance allowance is increased by three cents, employee allowance by 200 euros
Whether by bike, car, bus or train – the
distance allowance
is raised.
From the 21st kilometer there are now 38 cents
for commuters
.
This is intended to absorb higher costs for trips to work.
The
regulation
applies to the years
2022 to 2026
.
The employee lump sum increases by 200 euros.
This means that taxpayers can have income-related expenses offset against them.
Previously, this was up to 1,000 euros, now 1,200 euros are possible.
This will come into effect on July 1, retroactive to January 1.
There are new tax breaks for employees.
The basic allowance will be increased.
There is more net of the gross.

Relief package: the basic allowance increases, there is more net than the gross
The
basic allowance
increases from currently 9,984 euros to
10,347 euros
.
This means that anyone who earns less than 10,347 euros a year does not have to pay
any taxes
on it .
For everyone else, their income
remains
tax-free up to this limit.
In concrete terms, this means that less wage tax is deducted from wages.
The taxpayers' association expects employers to pay back the overpaid wage tax from July.
This is happening retrospectively up to and including January 1, 2022. Employees can therefore count on more money in July.
The taxpayers' association has calculated how much income tax you will get back.

Pensioners and freelancers will not benefit from the relief package for the time being
For the time being, the relief only applies to
income tax
.
This means that anyone who does not pay wage tax does not benefit from the relief either.
This includes, for example,
pensioners and freelancers
.
Anyone who does not pay income tax can use the allowances with their next
tax return
assert.
This then affects the tax return for 2022, which is submitted in the following year.
