They will have to explain to investigators why they ran over a teenager who was walking on a sidewalk before getting out of their van armed with iron bars.
Two men suspected of having deliberately overthrown a 17-year-old young man on Tuesday in Villemandeur, west of Montargis (Loiret), were arrested.
"The investigations conducted by the Territorial Directorate of the Judicial Police (DTPJ) of Orléans made it possible to identify the two occupants of the offending vehicle and to arrest them", announced on Wednesday the prosecutor of the Republic of Montargis, Loïc Abrial.
The two men, aged 27 and 25, "are currently in police custody for attempted murder".
Towards the opening of a judicial investigation
The victim was walking on the sidewalk Tuesday morning when she was hit by a van, according to the prosecution.
According to police sources, the driver and passenger got out of the vehicle, armed with an iron bar, before fleeing without hitting the victim.
An opening of judicial information "is envisaged at the end of the custody measures", says Loïc Abrial.
It should be ordered by the criminal center of Orleans.
The 17-year-old victim is still in intensive care at the Orléans Regional Hospital Center this Wednesday evening.
His vital prognosis remained engaged according to the magistrate.
