Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen -
Opinions are divided on the fifth generation (5G) cellular technology.
Resistance is rising in some cities and towns.
In any case, Telekom states: “The mobile network coverage in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district is now even better.” The reason: According to Deutsche Telekom, it has expanded eleven locations with 5G in the past few months.
The bottom line is that "more bandwidth is available, and the reception in buildings is better," the company said in a press release.
The upgraded locations are in Bad Tölz, Geretsried (2), Icking (2), Kochel am See, Lenggries (2), Schlehdorf and Wolfratshausen (2).
According to Telekom, the locations in Geretsried, Icking, Kochel, Schlehdorf and Wolfratshausen also provide supplies along the Autobahn 95, while the location in Lenggries is important for supplies along the railway line.
The expansion by 5G means a digital location advantage for the district, the provider concludes.
Telekom currently operates 38 cell phone sites in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district.
The population coverage is around 97 percent.
The company has announced that another 21 locations will be added by 2022.
“In addition, expansions with LTE and 5G are planned at eight locations during the same period.” The LTE expansion is important “because all LTE locations will be used in the future 5G network.” When it comes to expanding mobile communications, Deutsche Telekom is working with the municipalities or private property owners in order to be able to rent necessary space for new locations.
