Teleworking: ten times more agreements signed in companies between 2017 and 2021

Company agreements relating to teleworking amounted to 4,070 in 2021, against 390 in 2017, according to a Dares study published on Wednesday.

In particular, the Covid-19 crisis which has led many companies to reorganize their mode of operation taking into account the expectations of employees: 56% of agreements were signed in 2020. This “results in a diffusion of this way of working to new business profiles, such as small structures.

Those with ingrained negotiation habits are nevertheless largely in the majority, ”notes the statistics department of the Ministry of Labor.

New professional sectors have also implemented telework, points out the study.

The number of agreements signed by trade, transport and accommodation-catering thus reached 620 in 2021, an increase of 225% compared to 2019. Only one sector saw its share of agreements signed decrease, that of activities financial and insurance companies, but this is explained in particular by the fact that companies in the sector had already set up teleworking systems before the health crisis.

71% of agreements relate to “regular” teleworking

Dares also looked into the content of the agreements signed.

Out of a sample of 151 agreements analysed, 51% of them provide for example the text for a fixed period, 21 months on average.

A reversibility clause also exists in two-thirds of cases, to allow the company to reconsider its choices, or even an adaptation period (54% of agreements), a sort of test phase to assess the system put in place. square.

“Regular” telework is targeted by 71% of the agreements, a formula with two remote days per week appears to be the majority.

A significant proportion of agreements combine fixed and flexible days with, for example, the establishment of two flexible teleworking days per week with the impossibility of teleworking on Mondays and Fridays.

Other agreements propose to combine fixed and flexible days with, for example, one fixed day per week and an annual volume of 20 flexible days per year, details the study.

Finally, the provision of equipment, such as a laptop, is covered by 8 out of 10 agreements and the compensation of costs attributable to teleworking by less than half.

Reminders of the right to disconnect and health and safety obligations vis-à-vis employees are frequent, but few agreements put in place prevention systems specific to teleworking, notes Dares.
