The Moosburg city center is to be traffic calmed.

The city council has now decided to take some measures.

Moosburg

- It is a highly emotional topic: traffic calming in downtown Moosburg.

In the city council meeting on Monday evening, several proposals to change the traffic routing and to set up Tempo 30 areas sparked discussions.

Increasingly handle traffic via Bahnhofstrasse

The Moosburg local politicians have been carrying the vision of a traffic-calmed or even car-free old town for many years.

With the graduation of the previous state roads such as Münchener or Thalbacher Straße, Stadtplatz and Westerbergstraße to local roads, traffic regulations can now be issued by the city of Moosburg itself.

A kinking right of way with conversion of the intersection on Westerbergstrasse / Münchner Strasse, which had been requested by the free voters, was approved.

The main direction for traffic will be directed away from the city center at the level of the cemetery church, explained Renate Klossek from the municipal traffic authority.

The same is intended for the conversion of the right of way and the traffic routing on Thalbacher Straße / Bahnhofstraße.

Road users coming from the direction of the walls should in future be directed via Bahnhofstrasse, which will have right of way.

If you want to continue towards the city center, you have to do so via a left-turn lane.

This will ensure that traffic is increasingly handled via Bahnhofstrasse.

The committee voted for it with 22: 0 votes.

Tempo 30 zone on the station area required

Mayor Josef Dollinger said that the supplementary motion that the CSU city council group had introduced to introduce a speed adjustment to 30 km / h at the level of the station area was not so easy to implement due to legal requirements.

The hurdles for Tempo 30 stipulated in the Road Traffic Act (STVO) were not sufficient.

It is almost a miracle that nothing has happened in this area so far, said Jörg Kästl (ÖDP) and Johannes Becher (Greens).

Around 8,000 people are out and about there every day.

It gets tight, especially in the morning hours.

Kästl reported on the risky turning maneuvers of the school buses.

In addition, cyclists were circling, not to mention the many students who were there at the time.

It is a shame that something has to happen before a 30 km / h zone can be set up, so the tenor.

Tempo 20 legally not tenable

The faction of the Greens made suggestions for traffic calming on the town square.

In a motion, they called for the town square to be converted into a traffic-calmed area.

This means that there would be a speed limit of 20 km / h there - as has long been the case in Weingraben and Herrnstrasse.

That would cause accidents hotspots, said Dollinger.

Because then the rule “right before left” applies in this area.

"It would probably crash more often," said the town hall chief.

From a legal point of view, Zone 20 is not tenable at this point, emphasized Klossek.

The Green City Council then withdrew the motion.

An employee of the “StadtLandVerkehr” office presented the results of a survey on through, destination, source and inland traffic in Moosburg with a survey of households.

In the coming months, citizens are encouraged to participate in the development of traffic in the city of Moosburg in the course of moderated working groups.
