Memmingen - From now on ten new electric Renault Twingo are in use in Memmingen and the surrounding area for the home care of the Diakonie.
The Diakonie took the special program “Social & Mobile” launched by the Federal Government as an opportunity to implement a long-cherished idea on the way to CO2 neutrality.
"The employees involved were involved in the e-mobility project right from the start," says Stefan Gutermann, director of Diakonie Memmingen. And so various electric vehicles were tested in daily use over a longer period of time. In the end, the choice fell on the Renault Twingo, which best met the requirements in terms of mileage, comfort and size.
Gutermann expressly thanked the people and companies involved, who contributed to the implementation and the punctual commissioning of the vehicles: Matthias Schwarz, a certified engineer and a state-approved consultant for e-mobility, who also played a key role in the application for the subsidies . Likewise at the Wagner company for the timely installation of the charging infrastructure and at the Sirch car dealership for the punctual delivery of the electric cars with the necessary instruction in the use of these vehicles.
The vehicles were handed over to the Diakonie employees on the grounds of the AMC Motorsport Park in Memmingen.
First of all, in a joint prayer with Dean Christoph Schieder, God's blessing was requested for the employees, those in need of care and the cars.
And then it went into practice.
The vehicles were manned by employees and Bernd Wilhelm from the Sirch dealership, who was connected to all vehicles via video, led the drivers several careful laps around the AMC Memmingen racetrack.
Diakonie invested around 240,000 euros in charging infrastructure and vehicles.
This was only possible through the use of federal funding, which contributes a total of 115,000 euros to the investment.
Compared to gasoline-powered small vehicles in the care service, in future a CO2 saving of 18 tons should be achieved with the electric vehicles.
Since the Diakonie produces a large part of the driving current itself via a combined heat and power system, a further reduction is possible;
about half of the share of electricity from coal.
In addition, the use of electric vehicles avoids other emissions such as ammonia, nitrogen oxides and fine dust.
