And it is still unclear how the return of many vacationers will affect the spread of the infections in the next few days and weeks.
The strategies for many areas seem clear: where incidences are increasing, multi-person interiors can only be entered if one has been tested, vaccinated or recovered.
Then the so-called 3G rule takes effect.
Exceptions still apply in grocery stores, for example.
But SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach - opinionated thought leader in the pandemic - would now like to go a step or two further.

3G rule for long train journeys: Karl Lauterbach (SPD) wants to significantly restrict train journeys
Lauterbach has - citing an article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung - identified another exception to which one currently has access without having been vaccinated, recovered or tested.

"Long train journeys, for example in the compartment, can lead to infection with the Delta variant," Lauterbach writes on Twitter.
“Unvaccinated infected people can even endanger vaccinated people.
So the 3G rule would be right here. ”Users on Twitter describe that, according to their experience, the mask requirement is rarely checked on long train journeys.

Lauterbach goes one step further: "Other areas where leisure time is concerned should increasingly even be subject to the 2G rule." He justifies his claim with the spread of the delta variant, which is causing increasing numbers of corona in Germany.
“We have to act now because the incidence is rising too much.
That means: 2G where possible, ”he continues.
“The idea that we let it go and that anyone who gets infected could have been vaccinated puts too many people at risk, especially children.
We would soon have more than 100,000 LongCovid cases, ”is his prognosis.
The 2G rule describes constellations in which only those who have been vaccinated or recovered have access to certain events, services or rooms.
Unvaccinated people are excluded here - even with a test.
