After a test solution was found to be contaminated, all corona tests with the “Deepblue” brand at the schools in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania were suspended.

As a spokeswoman for the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) in Rostock said on Thursday, experts there are following up clues from a private laboratory.

This detected two different types of bacteria in one of the tests, including the intestinal bacterium e coli.

Schwerin - Several random samples of different batches of the test in question would also be examined.

The results of the laboratory tests in the Lagus can be expected for Friday noon.

Then the Ministry of Education in Schwerin also wants to decide on how to proceed, as a spokesman announced.

Immediately after the case became known, the ministry had stopped the further use of the antigen self-test "Anhui Deepblue Medical Technology" in schools on Wednesday evening as a precaution.

According to reports, attentive parents in Greifswald had noticed that the test liquid had turned cloudy during a self-test and prompted the check.

According to the health department, the test solution in question showed clearly noticeable changes, in addition to the discoloration also in the odor.

The liquid is used for test evaluation and is not used on humans.

Possible infections can therefore only come from smear infections in the event of hygienic errors.

According to the Ministry of Education, the “Deepblue” self-test, which originated in China, is being used on a large scale in schools in the country.

Around 900,000 of them are in circulation for the regular corona tests, it said.

As a rule, the antigen tests would be carried out twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays.

For students who would have to be tested as possible Corona contact persons this week, there are reserves from another manufacturer in the four state school offices.
