Several start-ups are showing their new models at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf.

Yes, this year some e-scooter start-ups are also represented in Düsseldorf for the first time.
They are speculating on a niche that the massive trend towards mobile homes and camping buses has only just created: e-scooters as comfortable and compact mobile makers once the holiday home on wheels has been moored to a stand.

From the bachelor thesis to the e-scooter manufacturer
E-scooters are just as compact as bicycles, but much more comfortable because of the electric drive.
And there are now models that are designed as all-round vehicles for vacationers.
They can be tested by visitors on the outdoor course at the Caravan Salon.
The

from Cologne is where the
E-Scooter "Steereon"
before.
The company was created in 2015 from a bachelor thesis at the TH Köln.
"The task was to develop a compact vehicle with special driving dynamics," says co-founder Maximilian Camp.
The prototype showed potential and the university task became a business model.
The mini mobiles have been on sale since June 2020.
Two Steereon variants are available in stores.
A standing scooter (20.5 kg, 20 km / h) for around 3350 euros and a model with a seat (22 kg, 25 km / hI that costs a hundred euros more. Both are foldable, have an exchangeable battery, and offer 50 kilometers) Range as well as a 16-inch front and a 12-inch rear tire.

The unique selling point of the Steereon is the patented all-wheel steering.
When cornering, not only the front but also the rear wheel turns.
"It's a unique driving experience, similar to carving when skiing," says Camp.
"But you have to learn it first."
Beginners would need about fifteen minutes to safely maneuver the Steereon.
Scuddy GmbH from Kiel also emerged from
a study project

"The idea was to develop a powerful and foldable electric vehicle that fits in the trunk and guarantees maximum mobility when the camper is parked," says Alexander Fleischer, Head of Sales at Scuddy.
The result is a three-wheeler (two wheels in front) that is available in the three versions "City" (20 km / h, 70 km range, 4850 euros), "Sport" (35 km / h, 60 km range, 4850 euros) and "Ultimate" (45 km / h, 50 km range, 5250 euros) is available.

"With the 'Ultimate' version we are actually in competition with the 50 cc Vespa," says Fleischer.
"There is no other like this on the market."
The vehicles are equipped with a brushless motor and belt drive.
With 1500 watts of power, the scooter is six times as powerful as a pedelec; the exchangeable batteries, which are also manufactured in Kiel, contain the same Panasonic cell that is also installed in the Tesla Model S.
The patented curve-tilting technology is innovative: Despite the three wheels, the vehicle is not rigid, one foot always has to be placed on the ground when stationary.
There is also a clever folding mechanism;
When folded, the scooter can be pulled like a trolley case.
Since the drive is separated from the battery and the drive wheel does not touch the ground, the Scuddy is then considered a piece of luggage and can be carried free of charge on public transport.
If the battery is empty, it becomes a scooter
The
start-up "Go! Mate"
is based on the design of the classic scooter with its e-scooter concept.
It was founded in 2016 by Birgit and Jörg Schamuhn from Elmshorn in Schleswig-Holstein, before it was sold to Itzehoer Borba Feinwerktechnik GmbH some time ago.
Operational business started in 2019.
In Düsseldorf, the company that produces in Itzehoe is showing the new
"Staep Evo" model
(350 watts, 13 kilograms, 35 km range, from 1649 euros).
The scooter is optionally available with one or two folding joints.
The 1.30 meter long and 1.0 meter high scooter can be folded in to a length of one meter and a height of 55 centimeters with two joints.
In Germany, due to the Small Electric Vehicles Ordinance, only engines up to 20 km / h are permitted.
The highlight of the concept is the versatility, because the scooter can be used as an E version or a kick scooter.
If the battery is empty or if you want to do some sport, you simply leave out the support.
The Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf will take place until Sunday, September 13th. instead of. The e-scooters can be tested in the outdoor course in front of Hall 15.
