Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his optimism about the success of the Algerian initiative regarding the crisis of the Renaissance Dam that Ethiopia is building on the Nile River, calling for a direct meeting between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to reach a solution to their differences over this dam.

The Algerian News Agency, Wag, quoted President Tebboune as saying yesterday evening, during his meeting with officials of some local media, that "the initiative is Algerian and did not tire us," calling on Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan to respond to this initiative and to show wisdom and logic in order to find a peaceful solution to the crisis.

Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra recently made a regional tour to Ethiopia, Tunisia, Egypt and Sudan, during which he discussed all developments in the Arab and African region, including the controversial Renaissance Dam file between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia.
