Tartous Governor Abdel Halim Awad Khalil discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Syria, Wajdi Fawzy, at the governorate building today, ways to increase economic and commercial cooperation.

During the meeting, the Indonesian ambassador gave a brief explanation of the Republic of Indonesia geographically and culturally, stressing the depth of the historical relations and friendship between the two countries, hoping to develop them further in the next stage.

The Indonesian ambassador explained in a press statement that his arrival to the governorate, with the aim of discussing the possibility of increasing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, discussed during his meeting with the president and members of the Tartous Chamber of Commerce and Industry ways to enhance economic and commercial cooperation, and invited them to attend the Indonesia Trade Fair, which will be held on the 19th Next October in the capital, Jakarta.

In turn, the governor of Tartous said in a similar statement: These events are an indicator of the depth of relations and friendship between the two countries, and contribute to strengthening cooperation, especially in the economic field, pointing out that Tartous Governorate is ready to provide everything that supports and strengthens these relations.

Mazen Hammad, Chairman of the Tartous Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also expressed in a press statement the Chamber's keenness on the participation of a number of businessmen in the Expo Indonesia next month, noting that during the meeting with the Indonesian ambassador, the trade exchange of some commodities was discussed.

Hammad pointed out that it was agreed to increase communication between businessmen between the two countries, the beginning of which will be an electronic virtual meeting between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, between Tartous and Jakarta, hoping to overcome all difficulties and obstacles to developing relations between the two countries.
