After the first real storm in autumn 2021, the nice weather will come back to Germany at the weekend.

This is ensured by Hoch “Quedlinburga”.

Munich - Germany has the first major autumn storm behind it.

In many regions of the country, the weather has calmed down again.

With speeds beyond 100 km / h, the wind swept across the Federal Republic, especially on Thursday (October 21).

At the weekend the sun comes back and brings nice weather.

Weather in Germany: Storm caused accidents and injuries

On Thursday, the storm caused accidents and injuries in many places. In several federal states people were injured - for example when trees or branches fell on cars. Telephone and power lines were damaged, and the power went out in several regions of Germany. Strong winds and hurricane gusts caused trees to fall. They overturned on rails and roads where there was traffic obstruction. At Templin in Brandenburg, a train driver was killed by a falling branch on a railway line.

On Friday, some gale-force gusts raged again in Lower Saxony and Bremen.

The East Frisian Islands and the coast in particular continued to feel the storm.

On Spiekeroog, the German Weather Service (DWD) recorded a gust of wind force 11 at 104 kilometers per hour until the early afternoon.

Police stations and fire brigades in the country did not report any major operations.

Weather in Germany: normal traffic has leveled off again

The normal situation has also returned to normal on the streets and in local public transport.

In any case, only a few streets were closed "in the area" during the storm, said a spokeswoman for the ADAC traffic club.

Occasionally trucks overturned - for example on the A9 and A14.

Nevertheless, caution is still required, as fallen trees, branches and bricks are still a danger. Furthermore, hidden damage to trees could be dangerous.

Weather in Germany: High "Quedlinburga" brings plenty of sun on the weekend

All in all, the first autumn storm swept through the country as predicted by the DWD - with one special feature: what was unusual about this storm was that the strongest gusts occurred over central Germany.

Hurricane-like gusts had occurred in the lowlands, said Markus Übel from the DWD of the German Press Agency.

As the weather service announced on Friday, the situation should calm down over the weekend.

The high "Quedlinburga" even provides sunshine - especially on Sundays.

The temperatures then move between 11 and 15 degrees.

It cools down a lot at night.

During the night on Sunday and Monday, the temperature even drops slightly into the frost range.

According to DWD forecasts, things will continue calmly in the coming week for the time being - even if Hoch “Quedlinburga” is saying goodbye to Germany.
