Damascus, SANA- The Central Bank of Syria has agreed to pay more than 40 million Syrian pounds to citizens in return for the value of the papers

The Central Bank of Syria has agreed to pay more than 40 million Syrian pounds to citizens for the value of the distorted banknotes presented by them, based on a decision of the bank’s management committee.

The bank stated in a statement that the number of citizens for whom payment was approved is 131 in its branches in Damascus, Hama, Sweida, Lattakia, Aleppo, Tartous, Deir ez-Zor, Daraa, Hasaka and Homs.

The reasons for the deformation of banknotes varied, according to the statement, to include “fire, wear, poor storage, moisture, washing, rodents, damage as a result of use and rupture.”
