Change at the head of SNCF Réseau.
In a statement on Wednesday, the government announced the departure of the company's CEO, Luc Lallemand.
The executive "
welcomes the action
" of the businessman, who has spent his entire career in the railways, noting that he "
knew how to manage and implement the railway reform, while registering the company in a demanding path to improve its operational and economic performance
”.
Faced with the challenges of ecological transition, and in a particularly delicate context, "
the rail network must do better, in terms of quality of service, land use planning, sustainable development, safety and economic performance, support for investments commensurate with all these challenges
,” the press release nevertheless qualifies.
The government therefore wishes to "
give new impetus to the governance of SNCF Réseau
", by replacing Luc Lallemand with his former deputy, Matthieu Chabanel, described as an "
industrialist with recognized experience in the rail sector and having forged strong ties with all stakeholders
”.
His appointment will still have to be confirmed by “
the regulator's assent
”.
The new CEO will have to ensure that the tricolor rail network, which needs significant investment, according to the SNCF, can be "
for the benefit of all
