The coffee capsule war does not abate

After Nespresso, JDE Peet's (L'Or, Maison du Café) is investing 110 million euros to boost its production by 60%.

After Nestlé announced this summer to devote an envelope of 150 million euros to increase its production capacities of Nespresso capsules at its site in Romont (Switzerland), its great rival JDE Peet's replica.

The Dutch heavyweight (7 billion euros) of coffee and tea with brands like Jacob's, L'Or, Peet's, Senseo, Tassimo, Maison du Café, Grand'Mère, unveiled on Tuesday an investment project of 110 million euros over the next eighteen months.

The goal: to boost its production of aluminum capsules by 60%, currently by 5 billion per year.

A first part will be devoted to the installation, by June 2021, of new production lines on the French site of JDE Peet's, in Andrézieux (Loire), the group's reference factory for its capsules.

“This will be the majority of the investment,”

Ultimately, lines could also be installed at other sites that do not currently make aluminum capsules. ”
