In almost a month, on October 1 at 19:30, Anadolu Zero and Zenit St. Petersburg are set to kick off the new Euroleague season.
Later that evening, Maccabi Tel Aviv will host a European rival for the first time in almost seven months, when it meets Alba Berlin, and the nine opening round matches will close the next day with the Spanish derby between Basconia and Real Madrid.
But 29 days before the tip-off, and due to the corona plague, the hidden rabbi over the visible and no one can guarantee that the senior basketball league in Europe will start on time.
In the spirit of the time, quite a few obstacles stand in the way of games: increasing morbidity in many countries across the continent, isolation requirements for those coming from abroad by some governments, cost of charter flights to help prevent infections, the question of how to act in verified carrier case among players and the dilemma of whether and how to enter Fans to the pitches.

"We stick to our intention to open the season on time, but are constantly monitoring the situation in each and every country, so we do not rule out any scenario," confirms a source in the Euroleague to Walla!
sport.
In two weeks, the decisive discussion will take place, with the representatives of the groups meeting - online, of course - with the heads of the factory and making the final decision.
This week, the 18 clubs received a detailed and meticulous document containing the draft protocol for maintaining the players' health.
According to the outline offered by the Euroleague, all players and coaches will be required to undergo at least one corona test a week, three days before a game takes place;
In countries where the infection rate is high, including Israel, there will be two weekly tests, with the additional test scheduled for the day before the game.
The question of questions naturally concerns a case where there will be a positive result for examination among one of the players.
The Euroleague, like other leagues, such as the NBA and UEFA football establishments, does not expect the entire team to go into isolation in the event of a single verified carrier.

The names of the players (or coaches) who will be revealed as carriers will not be published in the media unless approved by the infected themselves and the Euroleague.
After a positive test result, they will be tested again twice - the next day and three and a half days later;
A player who sticks will sit for at least two weeks, which will probably lead to the disclosure of his name, and will be required to present two negative results in order to return to the field.
Each team will appoint a permanent “corona manager” in the next two weeks, and the Euroleague leaves the question of bringing the crowd into the pitch for procedures to be followed in each country.
Where possible, fans will be able to reach the pitch at pre-set times to prevent crowds at the entrance gates, and will use digital cards to avoid using paper.
The heads of the factory, who canceled the past season and finished it without a champion, set up a team during the break to formulate a work plan on the subject, and kept in weekly contact with representatives from the various teams.
"The situation is fragile," admits a source at one of the member clubs in the Euroleague.
"It's hard to assess right now where we're going, but if things continue as they did last week, I don't think there will be a two-week delay in preventing a start to the season."

The one who will certainly not object to the postponement of several weeks at the opening of the games is Maccabi Tel Aviv.
While the other teams started training regularly and most even held warm-up games, a large part of the players in yellow are not in Israel at all.
The squad has not yet been completed either, as the team lacks a foreign power forward (Quincy Acey or another player) and Amara Studmeier has left Israel, as it currently seems that he will not stay.
"Everything varies from country to country and from day to day," the same source adds.
"Some countries do not issue flights to other countries at all, and will require all sorts of spot permits to maintain an activity routine. It is much more complicated than games in local leagues. The situation requires quite a few adjustments, and also entails high expenses due to having to charter flights to so many games. Out of season. "
180 days have passed since Corey Higgins delivered two free throws, giving Barcelona a dramatic home win over Bayern Munich.
These were the last points scored in the Euroleague game, and the future is still in the fog.
