The Constitutional Council in Lebanon announced the annulment of the membership of two deputies in the House of Representatives representing the city of Tripoli, following appeals against the conduct of the elections that took place on May 15 of this year.

The Lebanese National News Agency quoted the Constitutional Council as saying in a statement today: The representation of Rami Feng was revoked in favor of Faisal Karami, and that of Firas Salloum in favor of Haider Asif Nasser in Tripoli in the House of Representatives.

The statement indicated that the annulment came as a result of an appeal filed by Karami and Nasser against Fanj and Al-Salloum, which necessitated a recount of the votes in this constituency to show that Karami won over Fanj.

The Constitutional Council had received 15 appeals on behalf of 17 members who won the parliamentary elections that took place on the 15th of last May, and the examination of the appeals is still ongoing.
