The death toll from the new Coronavirus in Latin America and the Caribbean has exceeded ten million, while the total number of deaths has crossed the 366,000 mark, according to a new toll prepared by Agence France-Presse.

According to the new statistic, the total number of injuries in the Latin America and the Caribbean region amounted to ten million and 3822 injuries, and the total deaths 366,702 cases, indicating that more than half of the injuries on the continent were recorded in Brazil, followed by Colombia, then Argentina and Peru.

For its part, the World Bank said that Latin America and the Caribbean has become the most affected region in the world in terms of the number of injuries and deaths, and is facing the worst health and economic results in the world due to Corona, expecting a decrease of 7.9 percent in the region's gross national product for the year 2020.

In Mexico, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of 4,577 new injuries and 135 deaths in the country during the past twenty-four hours, which brings the total number of cases in Corona to 814,328 cases and deaths to 8,3642 cases.

The Mexican government believes the actual number of infections is likely much higher than the reported number.

In Colombia, the Ministry of Health recorded 8,447 new infections and 165 deaths from the Coronavirus during the past twenty-four hours, which brings the total number of cases to 902,747, and the death toll to 27,660.

Colombia began a general isolation that lasted more than five months last March and is currently applying an optional quarantine phase that allows eating in restaurants and international flights, although concerts and other large events are still prohibited, and land and water borders are closed.
