In the rain, they were 4,000 to 6,000 demonstrators, Wednesday, in Decazeville, from several regions at the call of the CGT, to support the employees of the Aveyron company of metallurgy (SAM).
At 11 a.m., the crowd gathered in front of the factory, before going to a roundabout adorned with a foundry statue.
Created in 1973 on the remains of the steel industry, the aluminum foundry of 333 employees has until now manufactured engine casings for Renault.
Its closure is a shock in a disaster-stricken employment area.
And the file takes on a national dimension.

The SAM had been in difficulty since 2016. Placed in compulsory liquidation on September 16, it saw all hope vanish after Renault's refusal to support the only takeover project, led by its former boss Patrick Bellity.
On November 26, the Toulouse Commercial Court sealed its cessation of activity.
"It's a relocation here, not the closure of a declining activity!"
