As-Suwayda-Sana

The theatrical work (The Disgruntled Feminine Taa), written and directed by Walid Al-Aqel, which was shown this evening on the stage of the Culture Palace in As-Suwayda city, attempts to shed light on the issue of women's freedom in all its dimensions and details in Arab societies.

The work, which was the sixth performance of the Suwayda Theater Festival, presents existing and lived societal issues through models of women who have suffered from bullying, violence and men's cruelty to them, as each of them tells her story with the man, whether he is a father, brother or husband.

The show, according to its director, represents an attempt to turn this woman from the static to the discontented, to seek her salvation from the narrow place in which the Arab male mind has placed her, especially since she represents the first human womb and her relationship with the man is eternal, and neither of them can exclude the other, and they have the same rights and duties.

In his saying, the show seeks to convey a message from the woman to the man that (Give me a little of your cruelty and take the excess of my tenderness.. Enough of victory and suffice of defeat..let's equalize, we are more beautiful together).

The show was followed by a critical dialogue session about it, during which a number of interlocutors referred to its aesthetic writing and directing, where the concerns of the oppressed woman were presented with a distinguished youthful performance and high craftsmanship in decoration, lighting and scenography, and carrying deep connotations with a directorial vision derived from the theater of cruelty that seeks to address the unconscious mind.

Co-starring with the roles are Nahawand Shalgin, Yara Al-Shoufi, Katia Abu Fakhr, Dana Abu Mahmoud, Lyn Shalghin, Imran Zain Al-Din, Imran Al-Safadi, Salman Murshid Radwan and Murhaf Saab.

The festival, which is organized by the Directorate of Theaters and Music, the National Theater Department in Sweida, and the Directorate of Culture in the governorate, will conclude its activities tomorrow, Friday, with a theatrical performance entitled Antara and Abla, and the announcement of the results of the festival’s competition for the best performance, directing, actor, actress, lighting, decor and music, and a special jury award.
