The doctor of the Danish soccer team, Morten Boesen, was one of the great protagonists of a day of the European Championship with a happy ending but one that will be difficult to forget.

It was perhaps the great responsible for Christian Eriksen, who collapsed in the middle of the game against Finland, is still alive.

In a press conference after the game that finally resumed and in which Finland beat Denmark 1-0, Boesen gave details of the

dramatic minutes

in which together with the organization's doctors they avoided the fatal outcome.

"We have made Christian come back," he

The doctor said that when he was called to enter the field, he had not seen Eriksen fall, but noted that

"it was clear that he was unconscious

.

"

"When we got close to him, he was on his side, he was breathing and I could feel his pulse, but suddenly everything changed and, as everyone could see, we began to give him a

heart massage,

" he continued his story.

He also praised the work of the doctors at the event: "The medical team arrived quickly and with their help we did what had to be done. We have managed to get Christian back," he said.

The Danish team's doctors assist Eriksen moments after he collapsed.

Eriksen collapsed in the 42nd minute. After the medics were admitted, his teammates made a cordon to prevent the resuscitation work from being seen.

In a state of shock, the player's wife left her place in the stalls and also entered the playing field, where she received the support of the player's teammates.

Eventually, Eriksen was able to be

resuscitated and transferred

to a Copenhagen hospital, where it was soon announced that he was conscious and stabilized.

It was then that it was decided that the match should be resumed and Denmark ended up losing 1-0 to Finland, on the first day of group B.

"The players decided to play and what they have tried to do is incredible," said Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand, applauding their mental strength.

He added: "They decided at first not to do anything until we were sure that Christian was conscious and that everything was OK.

I could not be more proud of my players

. They are people who take care of each other."
