The Iraqi Football Association announced today the signing of Dutchman Dick Advocaat to lead the coaching of the first team to replace Slovenian Srichko Katanic in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Iraqi Federation signed Advocaat training contracts for the Rafidain Lions team in the Spanish capital, Madrid, which has training experience during his long career, as he led many teams such as the Netherlands, Russia, Serbia, Belgium and South Korea, in addition to the UAE national team.
The 73-year-old also led many clubs, such as Russia's Zenit, Turkey's Fenerbahce, Feyenoord, Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Germany's Borussia Mönchengladbach and England's Sunderland.
The Iraqi national team qualified for the final stage of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, which includes 12 teams, where 4 teams will qualify directly to the finals, and a fifth team will play in the qualifying qualifiers.
