A quick and a rather cheeky goal: Bielefeld succeeds in something that hasn't worked for so long.

The defeated Frankfurt Eintracht doesn't do that much wrong, but it lacks effectiveness.

The result: The wait for a victory in 2022 continues.

Frankfurt/Main – Frank Kramer hugged his overjoyed Arminia professionals, Oliver Glasner congratulated with a petrified expression.

Arminia Bielefeld left the relegation place for the time being with the first win at Frankfurt Eintracht in a decade and a half and extended the frustrating series of wins in Hesse in the new year.

"We wanted to be compact at the back and take our chances up front, which definitely worked out well," said Bielefeld's goalscorer Patrick Wimmer.

Arminia celebrated a 2-0 (2-0) win at Eintracht on Friday evening at the start of the 20th matchday in the Bundesliga.

Wimmer gave the visitors the lead in the fifth minute with the fastest Arminia goal since returning to the top flight, before he played a spectacular set-up to set up Alessandro Schöpf's goal 22 minutes later.

In the table, Bielefeld, unbeaten in five games, climbed to 14th place with 21 points.

The Frankfurter (28) missed the jump to the international ranks, they stay eighth at least for another night.

"We didn't defend it consistently again and we had a lot of trouble putting the ball into the net in front of the goal," said Frankfurt's Djibril Sow: "Of course the pressure is on again."

It was not just the start of the game that the Hessians had not imagined.

Again they conceded an early goal.

The sixth this season in the first quarter of an hour.

On the left side of defense, they let the Bielefeld grant.

When the ball landed at Wimmer after an ineffective attempt to clear it, the Austrian shot his third goal of the season.

Kevin Trapp, who, like Filip Kostic, had returned to the starting eleven after surviving a corona infection, had no chance.

The fact that coach Glasner's Eintracht had significantly more time in the game and possession of the ball played no role against the very eager and combative Bielefeld side. Except for a long-range shot by Daichi Kamada (12') and a huge chance by Jesper Lindström (16'), Frankfurt didn't get much out of it. Instead, coach Kramer's Bielefeld team proved to be efficiency experts after their fastest goal since promotion and scored the second goal.

Again, Arminia came from the right attacking side, only this time Wimmer did the preparatory work for an Austrian production.

And how!

Behind the supporting leg he pointed the ball in front of the Trapp goal, Schöpf pushed it with his chest over the line into the short corner.

"In training, you tend to try it for fun," Wimmer said afterwards on the broadcaster DAZN and added: "In the situation I had no confidence in my left foot."

According to the Bundesliga, teammate Schöpf was the most unsuccessful shooter in the upper house with 25 failed attempts.

The fact that the Kramer-Elf was able to go into the break with a two-goal lead was also thanks to keeper Stefan Ortega, who parried against Rafael Borré (35th) with a class reflex.

Even after the break, the Frankfurters could not buy anything from statistical advantages in the duel of the teams with the strongest runs in the league.

Significantly better pass rate - but still no goal.

Again Lindström missed a very good opportunity (56'), returning Kostic then only hit the side netting.

Ultimately, Bielefeld defended their lead until the final whistle and even had the chance to score the third goal through Florian Krüger (67th) and again Wimmer (72nd).
