The Group of Seven (G7) summit ended on June 13 and issued a strong-worded joint statement against China.

Reuters reported on June 13 that the leaders of the Group of Seven countries accused China of human rights issues in Xinjiang, called on Hong Kong to maintain a high degree of autonomy, and demanded a thorough investigation of the source of China’s new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).

According to the report, after reaching a unified position on the China issue, the leaders issued a communiqué strongly criticizing China, delving into some of the most sensitive issues for Beijing, including the Taiwan issue.

According to reports, China's re-emergence as a leading power in the world is considered to be one of the most important geopolitical events in the recent period after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the end of the Cold War.

The rise of China makes the United States uneasy. Joe Biden regards China as a major strategic competitor and vowed to fight China’s economic abuses and counter human rights violations.

The organization also stated, "We still pay close attention to the situation in the East China Sea and the South China Sea, and strongly oppose any unilateral attempt to change the status quo and increase tension. We emphasize the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and encourage the peaceful settlement of cross-strait issues."

G7 said, “We are concerned about the use of various forms of forced labor in the global supply chain, including state-sponsored forced labor for vulnerable groups and ethnic minorities, including in the agriculture, solar energy and clothing industries.”
