The government has approved: The education system will close tomorrow, a record number of infected

The government decided in a telephone poll to accept the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and Prof. Gamzo, and to shut down schools, kindergartens and day care centers starting Thursday.

The government decided today (Wednesday) in a telephone poll to accept the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and Corona projector, Prof. Roni Gamzo, to close the education system tomorrow, including schools, kindergartens and daycare centers, in light of the significant increase in infection.

The government's approval comes after a source in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's entourage announced last night that he was considering closing the education system today.

This, following the recommendation of Gamzo, who addressed a letter to Health Minister Yuli Edelstein and Education Minister Yoav Galant yesterday regarding the activity of the education system.

"All the professionals are behind this recommendation," Gamzo wrote to Edelstein and Galant.

"The government made the wrong decision contrary to our recommendations."

"We are convinced that the increase in morbidity in the population is due to over-infection and spread in the education system, especially those aged 10 and over," Gamzo added.

"I seek to meet our professional recommendation."

He added in a letter a graph indicating an 8% jump in patient rates among teenagers aged 19 to 19 after the start of the school year.

Approval to bring forward the closure of the education system, comes in the background of the Ministry of Health's publication of the guidelines regarding activities that can be done during the closure, which will begin on Friday at 14:00 beyond a distance of 500 meters from the house.

Among the activities that will be brought to the approval of the government and the Knesset, participation in funerals and demonstrations.

In addition, it will be possible to exceed the 500-meter limit in order to obtain food, medicine or essential products, receive medical, psychological or complementary medicine.

What is allowed beyond 500 meters

• Arrival and return of an employee to a workplace where he is entitled to work according to any law, and return from it

• Equipping food, medicine, essential products and receiving essential services

• Receiving medical treatment, psychological treatment and complementary medicine

• Participation in the demonstration

• A legal proceeding that requires the presence of that person

• Arriving at the Knesset

• Welfare care

• Baptism of a woman in a pure mikveh

• Attendance at a funeral

• Assisting a person who has difficulty or distress

• Transfer of a minor whose parents live separately to the other parent

• The transfer of a minor whose parent is responsible for him is required to go out for a vital need

• Essential care for animals

The Ministry of Health updated this morning that 5,523 people have been diagnosed in Corona in the past day.

This increased the number of infected patients in Israel to 166,794.

Yesterday, results were obtained for more than 55,000 tests, with a positive percentage for the virus of 9.9%.

The test data and their results are not final and may change in subsequent updates from the Ministry of Health.

The number of active patients is 42,862.

1,153 patients are hospitalized, of whom 138 are respirators and 535 are seriously ill.

To date, 1,141 people have died from the corona virus in Israel.
